The process begins with studying the leather: the craftsman selects the best part and cuts it. He arranges the upper on the last and delicately hammers it, filing the seams and softening the points in contact with the foot.
Using the leather from the upper , the craftsman completely wraps the last —for a softer fit, free from internal hems. Then, he sews the vamp with needle and thread . Finally, the shoe is attached to the sole with an internal stitching called a Blake, named after the machine used to make it: the artisan guides the shoe under the needles with the skill of someone with experience.
